19 years ago I was on a jail cell floor hopeless, scared, and suicidal. I thought my value was based on what other people thought. And people didn’t think much of me. The internal prison I lived in was far worse than the physical prison I sat in.

I‘d grown up believing I was worthless. I did worthless things. I took instead of gave. I lied instead of telling the truth. I hated instead of loved.

I cut myself, burned myself, and punched myself.

Suicidal thoughts gave me enough peace to fall asleep at night.

A mentor came into my life and spoke truth. He told me I was a masterpiece, valuable, and a leader. And after spending years believing I was worthless, I was desperate for a new path.

I dared to believe.

I began to do valuable things. I started to give instead of take. I told the truth instead of lied. I loved instead of hated.
